A few kind words about Mark Munzer, Todd Lena and
the band Dead Jam

Hosted by two front men, Mark Munzer (from The Knot) and Todd Lena (formerly with Electric Hummus), Dead Jam brings together talented musicians in the greater Boston jam scene for nights of playing good ol' Grateful Dead and inspired jams.

In late 2004, Todd Lena was approached by Charlie Norman (manager) with the idea of creating a new Grateful Dead tribute for the greater Boston area. Soon after, both Charlie and Todd visited Mark Munzer at a club where The Knot was playing and asked Mark if he would be up for forming Dead Jam.

Since the first gig at Jamspot in Somerville, MA in March of 2005, Dead Jam has performed nearly twenty shows while hosting over twenty-five area musicians for both high-energy and magical evenings at clubs, theaters and at weddings. The photo you see here is of Mark Munzer on keyboards and Todd Lena on lead guitar taken by Michael Kalish while performing live on Cable TV from the Comcast Studio in Framingham, MA, April of 2005.

Dead Jam plays their own interpretation of the songs and music of The Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band, and every show is different covering over 130 songs.

Other musicians who have played in Dead Jam include Larry Mancini (guitar), Gary Backstrom (guitar), Dan Sullivan (guitar), Jimbo Harris (guitar), Vic DeRobertis (guitar/keys), Perry Seigle (guitar), Jeff Larson (guitar) Ken Selcer (guitar), Brian Girrard (bass), John Brigham (bass), Brian O'Connell (bass), Jeff Rachel (bass), Scott Kenton (bass), Chris Chitouras (bass), Jack Howard (drums), Jeremy Esposito (drums), Mike Zecco (drums), Tony Ryon (drums), Dave Kane (percussion), Ryan Perry (percussion), Franny Gallagher (harmonica).
