Photos: Meet The Players

Mark Munzer - keyboards & vocals

Mark is a 40 year old keyboardist/singer/songwriter hailing from New York City.  He has also sat in at gigs with artists such as Dark Star Orchestra, Merle Saunders and Strangefolk. Mark has written many original songs that he performs with The Knot.

When Mark and Todd play on stage with Dead Jam, Charlie Norman says that the energy is over the top and off the hook.

Mark continuously enjoys a wide variety of music from rock, folk, and pop to jazz and classical.

Mark can be reached via email at mark.munzer@comcast.net.

Todd Lena - lead guitar & vocals

Todd is just grateful for the awesome ride that he enjoyed while rockin' with Mark and the gang since "Dead Jam" first began back in late 2004.

Todd used to play in the Boston area with the GD tribute called "Electric Hummus" which had its start back in the mid 1990's outdoors in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA.

His Stratocaster has been modified with hardware to give a similar sound like the The Tiger guitar  played by the late Jerry Garcia. Thanks to Dave Fontaine of RI for his help over the years upgrading Todd's gear.

Todd is very grateful to have had the opportunity to have both worked and played with Mark Munzer on keyboards and Charlie Norman as manager along with many other area musicians.

Listen to Todd play and sing on the Dead Jam live track of the JGB song: Like A Road.mp3 with Todd - lead guitar, Dan Sullivan - rhythm guitar, Mark Munzer - keyboards, Brian Girard - bass, Mike "Scooch" Zecco - drums. Song recorded by Roger Merritt from the Attic at Union Street, Newton, MA on Friday June 23, 2006.

Charlie Norman - manager

With a gift to both inspire and motivate, Charlie Norman has been very kind to share his time toward helping Dead Jam to be the best it can be. Charlie has years of experience with the jam band scene, likes Moe and WSP.

Charlie first saw and heard Todd play back in the mid 1990's when Electric Hummus used to play at Harper's Ferry. Soon after, Charlie got some great ink in the Boston Globe as a popular Boston area music fan and mentioned Todd's old band.

Charlie also is quite keen on keeping up relationships with area musicians. He moves through the crowd at clubs like a public figure, both exchanging high-fives and hugs.

Both Mark and Todd are very grateful to have played at Charlies birthday for two years in a row. "I like!"

Franny Gallagher - harp

A 'grate' man to have on board at any show, Franny has played harp with Dead Jam on a few occasions. Franny has appeared on Dead Jam videos from the Attic twice in the Fall of 2006 and also played at the Regent Theatre in Feb, 2007.

Franny also has his own gig as he plays with his Bob Weir/Ratdog tribute called "Eternity" with Mike Cataldo. Since meeting Todd in the Summer of 2006, Franny has shared his time off the stage by helping Dead Jam to promote shows over the online communities.

Always ready to go to Ratdog or Phil show near by, Franny likes to book his band to play for the after concert crowd.

Keep rockin', Franny.

Michael Kalish - digital media

From the first Dead Jam show at Jamspot back in March of 2005, Michael has been very cool about obtaining the best cameras and electronic gear for making quality productions for DVD, MPEG video and photography.

We first met with Micheal after a search on craigslist for a videographer to make DVDs. Michael has worked with Govt. Mule and Ratdog among others. Today, as a result, Michael has also gotten gigs with other jam band groups around Boston... but I think that we found him first.

And, lucky for us because Michael is a real fan of the scene and his digital media skills get better at each show.

Michael has over twenty-four hours of live Dead Jam on video in his vault at home. To see Michael's entire photo collection of Dead Jam... click here

Larry Mancini - guitar & vocals

Over the years, Larry has written and played several rockin' originals with Ol' Brown shoe, with The Knot and he's also successfully produced CD's of musical performances with several of Boston's finest musicians.

Dead Jam played at Larry's 50th birthday party in November of 2006 at the Attic Bar at Union Street in Newton, MA. Both Mark and Todd were grateful to have Larry play along with other members of Larry's band, Ol' Brown Shoe.

Larry also played with Electric Hummus with Todd back in the 1990's.  You can see Larry play with Dead Jam on DVD courtesy of Michael Kalish.

When not working, Larry is usually busy getting ready for the next music project at his home studio.

Jack Howard - drums

On stage, Jack is a tremendous drummer while keeping the beat. Because of his years back in the day playing with The Knot, and today with Ol' Brown Shoe, Jack has a great feel for the music of the Grateful Dead.

When we needed a drummer back in the Summer of 2006, Mark contacted Jack and since he's been on board as our first drummer.

See and hear Jack perform with Dead Jam on our live audio and video collection here on our downloads page.

Dan Sullivan - rhythm guitar & vocals

We were lucky to find Dan's phone number back in the Spring of 2005 and we were psyched that he was up for playin' some live Dead.

Dan is the man.

Dead Jam had a great run with Dan and we look forward to playing with him again. Peace.

Check out Dan's new band as of Spring 2008... Fennario

John Brigham - bass & vocals

John is "Dr. Bottom" on bass.

Likes the JGB tunes.

Jeremy Esposito - drums

Roger Merritt - sound engineer

Jimbo Harris - rhythm guitar & vocals

Scott Kenton - bass

Brian Girard - bass

Chris Chitouras - bass

Jeff Larson - guitar & vocals

Vic DeRobertis - guitar & vocals

Perry Seagle - guitar

Mike Zecco - drums

Ken Selcer - guitar

Ben - best fan 2006

Having a solid history of touring with Grateful Dead all around the nation, today Ben is a fan of Dead Jam and is also a very good friend. Ben helped Todd to resolve some outside issues early in 2006 and as a result, Dead Jam went on to complete the year with a fine string of shows with a  sell-out crowd in November '06 at the Attic Bar at Union Street in Newton, MA.

Want's to have Todd and Mark do a JGB tribute... says it would be mighty kind. Peace.
